Were Alexander the Great and Aesop Muslims?

If history tells us anything, it tells us that Alexander the Great and Aesop (of Aesop’s Fables) were not Muslims. But according to the Qur’an, Alexander and Aesop were Muslims (just like Adam, Abraham, Jesus, the disciples of Jesus, etc.). It seems that Muhammad was simply adopting popular figures from stories in Arabia and turning them into tools for his proselytizing.
